Illo friday

Do you remeber your dreams?
Or being a child?

When I was a kid I had this little plastic dinosaur, and its mouth was open, and it was JUST the right size for a small finger to go in; sadly the angle of the teeth mean that the finger never came back out again without some degree of pain.

I can't remember HOW many times I stuck my finger in that dinosaurs gob... something to do with being able to explore the smooth unseen inside of the plastic toy made it irrisistable.....

Things I've been given this week

my munky has arrived

I have been given a pro account at flickr.com (a lovely gift from my beloved) which pretty much means I've hard wired my brain into flickr now. In about a month I suspect I will be able to download my thoughts directly to my photostream and never have to actually paint again.

Needless to say I am now in my flickr account, blogging away.. in flickr. I feel so clever (unless it all goes horribly wrong, in which case I shall feel stupid. And then angry. And the frustrated....) click on the munkie and it takes you to my flickr account....cool...

I have also been given this wonderfulsome little fella by seaurchin. He reminds me of a venerable munkie statue I saw at a shrine in vietnam. Thusly I have named him 'munkypala' and shall use him to guard my own shrine (to munkies).

Today I have been listing some flying buttmunkies and minions in my etsy shop (see on the left.. minions)

Illo polar

Polar=parkas!
Yay parkas. This drawing is a continuation of my 'cloak invisibility' series. This one is called 'complete invisibility' (the other is on my DA account).

This is a horrible scan- I will take a better picture, but don't know if photo prints would sell from my shop- what do you reckon?
hum
happy Friday, anyway!

underworld hare

Breaking a mirror is supposed to bring bad luck, but hares don't care about that. He's traveling to the otherworld through it.

Linocut+ watercolouring
available here

It's all about me

10 things about me to amuse Sakura who tagged me (lucky you)
1) This is one of the bones that was dug up at the BBQ. Its not really about me, I am just wasting one point before because I promised regular skeletal updates. It's about 2-4 thousand years old, so I guess the fact I have waved such a venerable artefact about in such a disrespectful manner is interesting...
2) I only have wisdom teeth on my bottom jaw. Very odd- I am 50% ignorant.
3) I once, in a state of altered mood, sang the song 'unclefucker' to a dean of Oxford university.
4)I was born blue. So they put me next to a radiator to warm up. I also had a club foot, and I didn't cry.
5)My earliest memory is of having to have my head x-rayed. I was dubious of the whole process so they also had the x ray the head of my stuffed rabbit Bugsy. The X ray of head fluffing has always stayed with me.
6)Despite not having been 18 or under for quite- ok, a very- long time, I got ID'd 4 times last year.
7) I once got on of the most important professors in geochemistry to cheat in a game of cheese hurling so I won.
I was later in integral in getting the heads of Oxford and open universities geochemistry groups singing 'take a chance on me' by ABBA (open was in charge of the cha-cha-chance aspect).
8) I grow Lithops. But only because they amuse me- I call them buttplants because they look like .. bums.. and they amuse me especially when they start to flower because it looks like... well, look at the picture. This is my favorite buttplant I lovingly named 'spotty butt'
9) I'm really bad at finishing things...

go postal

I'll be exhibiting at the Hastings postcard show, and as you can see leftwards, that's my little pomegranate hare scampering across one of the flyers. Let's hope it's a big success- I love postcard shows, and there should be more of them- art postcards rock!
More details can be found here.

And on another postcardy note, if you've noticed how extortionate those postcard watercolour pads are and want an easy way to produce your own, how about this rubberstamp from stampmagick? I bought mine over easter and I'm fairly sure it arrived slightly before I bought it despite the hols- a veritable bargin, too.

Skeletons in the .. BBQ

Easter has been busy..seeing people..eating eggs. While digging a BBQ pit, my brother Rob unearthed a rather disturbing femur.
Well, we assure him it is a dog chew bone. A cow bone, right?
Well, when he started digging out metatarsals he started getting very upset- after all, cows don't have hands, right?
When we got to the pelvic girdle, we decided to call it a day- a local archaeologist reckons the skeleton is prehistoric, but they still have to call the coroner.

All very fitting for Easter Sunday, no?

Anyhoo, this little print (and the original) is available in my ETSY shop and it to celebrate this strange event (it would happen to me, right?).

Other reasons to celebrate: the arrival of my 'you've found me again' tin (more about that later) and the arrival of my stamps from the ever awesome stampmagick. Joanne's stamps are the best quality (thick rubber, no flaws) so I was pleased to take up the challenge of submitting artwork made with her stamps in exchange for a lovely alphabet set.
